Tarmac Festival 2022

In our second year at Tarmac Festival, my girlfriend Chiara and I were responsible for organizing an area called "Polynoiseon". The aim of the project was to provide a stage for the workshop space (e.g. for breakdance / pole dance workshops but also for magic shows) during the day.

At night the stage transformed into an interactive tracking area. Through a tracking camera (Microsoft Kinect V2) the festival visitors were recorded and could influence different live projections by their movements.

My responsibilities included:

  • Crew management

  • Conceptualization

  • Material ordering

  • Equipment inventory

  • Lighting control

  • Artist support

  • Financial plan

  • Supervision of external projects

  • Installation programming (with TouchDesigner)

Tarmac Festival 2021

At the first Tarmac Festival, friends and I built an approximately 2 x 2 meter mapping form consisting of many Voronoi cells cut from composite sheets with a CNC router. The Voronoi cells, previously calculated in C++, were stacked on top of each other in decreasing scales and illuminated with beamers, with the entire composition controlled by TouchDesigner.

On this form videos could be played, whereby each of the Voronoi cells reflects the average color of all pixels, which are within this cell. This had the effect that the videos could be recognized over a long distance, while a seemingly randomly illuminated construct was visible to viewers who were directly in front of the shape.

Furthermore, we developed additional projections adapted to the Voronoi cells.
